Sylvia Valetta Jackson
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our wonderful founder, Sylvia Jackson. Sylvia died on April 17 of Covid 19. We are bereft at the loss of such a vibrant, passionate and talented woman. She taught us all so much about stage-craft and performance and gave of her time generously to make sure that we got the best out of ourselves. She was a lovely woman, a loyal friend and a magnificent actor and director. We will miss her greatly.
Sylvia always believed that it was a privilege to perform works of some of the greatest playwrights in history and she thanked her lucky stars every day for a life spent in the theatre with like-minded people.
The Chatsworth Players are determined to continue her legacy of entertaining you with classic plays in the heart of our beautiful Derbyshire. We will stage our next production of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night for you as soon as we can. Join our mailing list to make sure that you don't miss our first Shakespeare. What better way to - hopefully - celebrate a successful return to life as normal, albeit without our beloved Sylvia.
Take care and stay safe - with love from the Players
